A few weeks ago we sent a satchel to a well known California blogger, Jessica. She writes Hapa Time and each day she post photos of herself decked out in amazing looks with each detail well thought out. From her hair to her booties, Jessica definitely knows fashion so we were super flattered when she wanted to wear the Louie Satchel! I love seeing how people style their accessories and Jessica kept it on the casual side (my favorite) with some killer booties and a terrific moto jacket. Making of Spring 13′

Today, almost every website you visit has some sort of video to view. Whether it’s behind the scenes, a tutorial or brand informative, videos are everywhere! I’ve been wanting to learn some basic video editing for a while now so in my spare time I’ve been tinkering with it. The result is a video of the making of my Spring 13′ collection. From sketching to some footage from my manufacturer, you’ll see a little bit of everything in the video. Now that I (somewhat) have the hang of it, stay tuned! I’ll be shooting some behind the scenes for my upcoming Fall 13′ photo shoot which will be shot in DUMBO, Brooklyn!

Little Update

I figure it’s time for an update on all things Shana Luther Handbags-

I’ve been working on a new wallet/clutch design that I’m very excited about. It should be ready for the Summer season so keep your eye out for that! With credit card slots, nice pockets and great hardware, the design will be perfect for everyday use. Still have yet to think of a name for it though..

Also, I’m expecting my Fall samples to arrive any day now! This Fall I’m working with navy, brick, dark green and gunmetal leather as a metallic accent. I have a wonderful model (and dear friend) booked for the photo shoot which is scheduled to take place in Dumbo, Brooklyn. Did you know that Dumbo stands for, Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass? Dumbo is such a great place (we took our wedding photos there) with old buildings, great parks and it’s right on the waterfront. Carey Kirkella is taking the photos so some seriously amazing shots are bound to happen!

A couple weeks ago I was asked by Pratt Institute if I would like to be featured in their upcoming Prattfolio Magazine featuring alumni. Um, yes! I answered a very insightful Q&A and their in-house photographer came to shoot me in my studio space earlier today. The issue should be coming out sometime in late Spring so stay tuned!

What to Wear With

After being in a dark Winter coat and tall boots for the past several months, all I want to do is brighten up my wardrobe! I’m not one to shy away from wearing color and when the weather gets warmer, you can see me in just about every shade of the color wheel. When I think of Spring I think of many things but mainly, color. This week’s What to Wear With is about just that- brightening up for the new season. The design duo of Vena Cava are my favorite clothing designers and they have an amazing dress this season that I would love to get my hands on. I paired that dress with my Marie Clutch in Grape leather and it could not be more Spring! Offset the girly dress with a tough motorcycle jacket and some snake print shoes and you’re ready to welcome that warmer weather and look killer at the same time!

We’re thrilled to say that we’ve recently been stocking bags at more stores within NYC! Thistle & Clover is a great store located in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. They carried some of my work back when I still operated SML Bags and I’ve kept them on my list of contacts ever since. The owner, Camilla, could not be more sweet and I love that they have some of Shana Luther Handbags now in stock! They feature amazing jewelry, women’s apparel and many more unique items from independent designers that are tough to find in Brooklyn.

I also dropped off some styles at Eva New York. Eva is a super cool boutique on the Bowery in NYC and walking in I wanted to try on and touch everything! Stephanie, the owner has an amazing eye and only picks items that hold true to her stores design aesthetic. Shana Luther Handbags are now on the Bowery, thanks Eva New York!

What to Wear With

Spring Showers bring May flowers… that what they say anyway. For us New Yorker’s, we never know what the Spring season may bring. Warm days, cold nights and spotty rain showers are often something we experience during the season so you have to be prepared. This is my more office appropriate What to Wear With post with the Louie Satchel. The Louie Satchel has proved to be a good seller for us and we can see why. With plenty of pockets (both inside and out), ample room for an Ipad and/or 13″ laptop, and with a conservative yet edgy design, the Louie is great for the office and carrying around all of your daily necessities. Beacon, NY

We are so pleased to say that we just shipped off some bags to a new store in upstate NY, Reservoir & Wood! Reservoir & Wood is located in Beacon, NY and is owned by an extremely talented designer, Erin Murphy. Erin designs the women’s wear line, {EM} Reservoir and I seriously want to stock up on her whole collection. She uses amazing silk prints and bold color and manages to keep that super cool, laid-back vibe in her designs (some photos of her designs below). Her new store carries her line, other independent designer collections (mine included!) as well as some beautifully crafted home goods. Although the store has been open for a while, they are having their grand opening party this Saturday, March 9th. If you live in the Beacon, NY area, stop on in and check it out!
